Insulating from the outside is the costliest method of insulating your solid walls. It does however have the added benefit of refreshing the look of old and tired looking properties. By insulating the external walls of your property, you could save up to £425 per year in energy bills.
External wall insulation is suitable for solid-walled homes without a cavity space. These homes were often built before 1920. Other solid-walled homes that may be suitable for exterior wall insulation include those constructed using stone, brick, concrete or steel framing.

External wall insulation is ideal if you want to slow the transfer of heat escaping through your walls and maintain your interior square footage. Externally insulating your property is also a great option if you are looking to change the appearance of your home, reduce energy bills, increase the value of your home, and extend the life of brick work.
HOW IS IT INSTALLED?
There are a number of approved systems for installing exterior wall insulation and the property type will determine how we install. Most systems include some form of expanded polystyrene (EPS) fixed to the external brickwork with adhesive or mechanical fixings. This not only slows the transfer of heat from the home but also protects the brickwork from the elements. Mesh is then added between two layers of cladding for strength. The final layer is covered with a basecoat and render to finish.
The protective render comes in a range of colours and finishings. Options are available to match your location and surrounding properties.

If you are interested in external wall insulation, you might require planning permission to proceed as the project will change the appearance of your home. Please check with your local planning authority especially if your property is within a World Heritage Site, national park, or conservation area.
